| Finnish councils continue process modeling and banking with QPR Software | |
| 02 December 2008 KuntaIT (the Council IT), the joint organization developing nationally interconnecting, customer orientated and performance improving IT services for Finnish Councils has decided to utilize option to continue process modeling service agreement with QPR Software Plc at least until the end of 2009. QPR provides to councils QPR ProcessGuide –software for process modeling and delivers related process bank as well as manages it. “The Process modeling work is in good speed, and by utilizing the agreement option in good time before year end we want to secure work’s undisturbed continuation, says Mr. Tommi Oikarinen, project manager at Ministry of Finance, managing the KuntaIT-venture. The KuntaIT-venture aims to support the modernization of public sector practices and working models by utilizing the latest ICT-technology. A part of the venture is the process modeling service and related process model bank. With them the councils and other local government bodies like federations of municipalities can model their service processes in a unified way and share them. The deployment of the unified process modeling service has proceeded well during 2008. Currently the process bank has more than 300 users, mainly process model makers. The models come from 155 different organizations, and the bank contains more than 150 different models. QPR Specialists have supported process modeling work by conducting coaching and training events across Finland. In these events council employees have studied process modeling according to JHS 152 recommendation and internationally widely approved Business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN) standard. Similar events will be organized also in the future. In order to get process models created before KuntaIT-venture in to the process bank, also models created with other than BPMN standard have been welcomed during a transition period. The one year long agreement between KuntaIT and QPR Software Plc concerning the joint process modeling service and supporting process bank was signed in December 2007. QPR Sofware was selected as the provider by a tender. The agreement contains two options for continuing the agreement by one year at time. “The KuntaIT process bank is as far we know an international exception and a highly advanced local government IT service.
