| This Christmas QPR collects toys for poor children | |
| 18 November 2008 Christmas is traditionally the time of charity and social responsibility. This year QPR carries its share by participating in Christmas Tree campaign organized by the Junior Chamber International Finland. The campaign aims to collect Christmas gifts to poor children who otherwise might be left without the visit of Father Christmas – who as everybody knows lives some 900 kilometers north of QPR’s head office, in the Finnish Lappland by the Polar Circle. QPR participates in the Christmas Tree campaign with presents and by organizing a donation point in its office premises. In addition, customers invited to QPR’s customer events, like QPR 8 launch event in November, as well as QPR employees are encouraged to bring their own gift donations. "It is easier to give a present, when you can image a three year old boy or a seven year old girl. Thus the gift is most likely also more pleasant to the small receiver”, says Mr. Jari Jaakkola, CEO at QPR Software. In 2007 a total of 18 000 gifts were donated through the campaign. This year the target is 20.000. The receivers are picked-up by public social workers or charity organizations. “Participation in the Christmas tree campaign suits well to QPR’s and in modern CSR thinking. We do concrete actions into which employees, customers and all other stakeholders are invited to participate. The possibility to do a concrete good deed is QPR’s Christmas gift to them”, Jaakkola continues.
